What is it?
Your exhaust system has four parts: manifold, pipes, catalytic converter and muffler. They all play a role in keeping your vehicle quiet and safe. The exhaust manifold receives toxic gasses given off by burning gasoline that powers your engine then passes them through the system. Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide and when the system works properly there is no danger to you or your passengers.
Because the system works as one unit, when one part fails and is welded to another, that part may also need to be replaced.
How can I tell if I need my exhaust needs service?
There are two signs you should look for:
- Louder than normal sound while driving
